history of cloud computing
History of Cloud Computing
Cloud computing first came into concept back in the 1960's when John McCarthy proposed that computers may some day be organized in a method that would involve it acting as a public utility. Telecommunication companies began offering VPN (Virtual Private Network) services during the 90's that were much lower in cost then their at the time offered point-to-point data circuits that provided their services. The cloud symbol represents the difference between the user’s and providers responsibilities. In 2007, major companies such as IBM, Google, Amazon (although Amazon helped development of cloud computing earlier on as well), and different school universities created a huge cloud computing research project which allowed many to see the prospects of cloud computing and the positive effects it could have on IT users and those who sell IT services. Cloud computing has been predicted to be put to use by nearly 80 percent of fortune 500 companies by the year 2012 and will continue to grow in use as the years go by.
what is cloud computing
What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing is the use of delivering hosted services over the internet. Information is provided to the computers involved on demand. With cloud computing you’re accessing services and different resources to perform jobs with changing and dynamic needs. An application can access the cloud for a service instead of standing and non-dynamic resource typically provided. The cloud can manage multiple infrastructures and ties all resources needed together and will give access to services when needed which prevents services from running when they aren’t needed which can save valuable resources. Many cloud computing infrastructures are data centers that deliver the different on demand services. The cloud maintains itself and all of it’s resources only requiring people to maintain the actual hardware and operating systems in complete working order for the cloud to run effectively. Many companies are now investing in cloud computing and research groups are researching new ways to put it to good use. Some experts say cloud computing is the way of the future and predict that it will be widely used in the near future.

cloud computing now
cloud computing now
cloud computing is now high on the CIO agenda, with 60% of banks believing that it will
help them achieve their business strategies. Furthermore 64% believe that cloud
computing is a key enabler of change within their organisation. A significant number of
respondents plan on deploying cloud-based solutions to drive efficiency with core
functions, particularly in retail banking functions such as loan processing (77%), credit
card processing (70%) and mortgage processing (64%)
cloud computing changes our life
10 ways cloud computing will improve our life
1. Power to provide higher speed without interr
Cloud posses the power to make everyone a gamer. Cloud computing has a gaming application which changes the nature of the kind of information. The gaming experience can be used with new generation to educate them on chronic diseases and coach the patients about using a drug. The gaming technique can be used to many other areas including product development to personalized medication and disease management programs.
2. Timely corrections can be done
Cloud computing will help you to take timely actions for fixing any stuff. This system can help persons to keep ahead of problems. Cloud will make the fixing stuff easier. For example, a driver of electric car can be informed in advance with the help of cloud computing that his car is running out of charging and he need to take the car to the charging station. In another case filed technicians can get immediate access to training modules with the help of cloud computing to find out how to repair an object.
3. Computing will become invisible
Cloud is showing its power to make computers and software invisible. Cloud will make the computer interactions hand free like the most recent launch of Kinect. In this gamers have nothing to do with the controllers they have to simply use gestures and movements which will be finally interpreted by a 3-D camera and infrared detection systems.
4. Visibility and reliability of inventory records
Cloud promises to give you what you actually want in stores. Sometimes, a product is shortlisted on internet but when it has been searched in stores, it is found that stores do not keep these products because they are website bound, but with the help of cloud one can purchase products with the stores who are connected to web browsers.
5. Companies will become trusted advisor
In today’s world, when whole of your online activities were watched and recorded it has become easier for companies to understand you as an individual hence they will not concentrate on immediate sales of their products, rather they will be more interested in making a good relations with you by advising you.
6. Provide unique way of selling
With the help of cloud applications, companies have invented unique ways of selling products to consumers and different businesses. Previously there was a phenomenon of people buying from people but now cloud has changed this phenomenon, people are moving towards online transactions. Cloud will facilitate the retailers to put their offerings online and also offer free online versions to the customers to develop a closer understanding of customers. Through this technique retailers can expect that customers using free online version will eventually sift to paid versions with more features.

7. Globalization of small scale business
Cloud computing will help the small scale businesses which are constrained to particular places due to shortages of funds to expand globally with reduced overhead cost. Cloud will help them to take advantage over their competitors as it does not involve building of physical data centre at new locations.
8. Secured data stored in Laptops
By using cloud all the data stored in laptops can be easily secure by storing them on internet. Thefts of laptops have resulted in the risk of loss of important information related to any person or any company so to decline the security breach, all the data gets encrypted in internet and laptop only plays a medium to access it.
9. Developing countries exploiting cloud quicker It is predicted that countries like China and India who are developing will make quicker use of cloud computing. These countries will exploit new opportunities faster and emerged as new markets and new competitors. 10. Make everyone self reliant Cloud offers many ways to rely solely on somebody’s own efforts and resources. It will help the small scale company to do complex modeling of a product. It will help in collaboration, developing products, testing ideas cheaply and quickly.Cloud computing in the next decade promised to collaborate everywhere through mobile devices. Cloud applications are reliable and secure that is why it is gaining popularity. After analyzing all the above mentioned steps, one can say that “the cloud” is the metaphor of internet but when it is combined with computing, it becomes bigger and bootstrap.

cloud computing in the feature

Right now we are in the early days of cloud computing, with many organisations taking their first, tentative steps. But by 2020 cloud is going to be a major — and permanent — part of the enterprise computing infrastructure.
Eight years from now we are likely to see low-power processors crunching many workloads in the cloud, housed in highly automated datacentres and supporting massively federated, scalable software architecture.

Cloud computing and education
Using cloud computing in education provide better choice and elasticity to education. The advantages of using cloud computing in education:
- First, Cloud computing offers school, colleges, and universities a low cost option for using high concept computing system and allows you to access real time information from anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds. All that's needed is an internet connection which is low cost. In the field of education, this is pretty important as it gives the lecturers and the students to constantly update their stock of information. Moreover, they can share their work without having to use paper which is costly to the environment and monetary therefore no longer a viable way to educate. Also, As confidential and critical data can be stored centrally in the cloud there is less exposure to threats such as the loss or theft of laptops or USB flash drives.
- Second, Cloud computing allows the users to access applications and other useful tools for free.
- At last but not least, this technology is a particularly new one and, because of this, it is not only efficient, it is also environment-friendly. In other words, it helps you to solve the problems and the challenges you might face it to assist your assignment. Helps you to make your data and information in public without lay on the line sensitive information.
Think how convenient homework assignments will become. The students can work on the cloud, cooperate with team members and share knowledge, and be sure that they will not leave behind their homework assignments when they go to school or college. Since they are on the cloud, they can access them anywhere. This process is not only for time saving, it is also helpful for students who are not great with face to face tutoring or discussion groups furthermore it also promotes the students understanding .
The nature of the cloud also allows students to share ideas. With this in mind, colleges can spend less on new software, text books and latest-expensive quality learning material. This ensures that students and schools have it easy sharing quality resources. This will not only help colleges control tight budgets, but will also enable students to access dynamic information. Eventually, this will boost their academic grades, learning experience and enforce collaboration, all of which will boost the quality of education.
In general, education is wide. It has many functions, individuals and processes. Innovative tools like those hosted in the cloud can help optimize their functions, effectively. The above are broader aspects.

10) Crash Plan
there are other web sites like:
iCloud , CloudBerry ,Yousendit.com ,and Microsoft Online Storage
types of cloud computing
there are three types of cloud computing
a) A private cloud’s services are aimed at businesses. For example, a company that sells clothing might use cloud storage to keep their financial documents, clothing designs, and sales records backed up. They have their own dedicated computer server or set of servers in a separate building where their information is kept. The cloud storage provider maintains these servers, keeps them safe, and manages the clothing company’s files.
b) The public cloud, on the other hand, is aimed more towards everyday people. The cloud storage service provider makes their storage service available to anyone or the general public over the Internet. People use the public cloud to back up their personal documents, video, photos, and other files. Their information is kept private, but the servers are shared by a large number of users. Public cloud services are sometimes offered free and can also be offered on a pay-per-usage or monthly basis like the private cloud. And like the private cloud, users may have to pay for their usage according to the amount of bandwidth or storage space used.
c)Hybrid cloud:
is a composition of two or more clouds (private, community or public) that remain unique entities but are bound together, offering the benefits of multiple deployment models.
By utilizing "hybrid cloud" architecture, companies and individuals are able to obtain degrees of fault tolerance combined with locally immediate usability without dependency on internet connectivity. Hybrid cloud architecture requires both on-premises resources and off-site (remote) server-based cloud infrastructure.
Hybrid clouds lack the flexibility, security and certainty of in-house applications. Hybrid cloud provides the flexibility of in house applications with the fault tolerance and scalability of cloud based services.

features of i cloud
Features of i cloud :
The cloud-based system allows users to store music, photos, applications, documents, bookmarks, reminders, backups, notes, iBooks, and contacts, and provides a platform for Apple's email servers and calendars. Third-party iOS and OS X app developers are able to implement iCloud functionality in their apps through the iCloud
1)iOS device backup and restore
iCloud allows users the option to back up iOS devices online (alternatively users can choose to continue to backup to their computers), thus they can be restored from online backup without connecting to a computer.
2)Find My iPhone
Find My iPhone, formerly part of MobileMe, allows users to track the location of their iOS device, or Mac. A user can see the device's approximate location on a map (along with a circle showing the radius depicting the margin of error), display a message &/or play a sound on the device (even if it is set to silent), change the password on the device, and remotely erase its contents. The feature was first announced on June 10, 2009 and was included in iOS 3.0 software update as a feature for paying MobileMe users. Find My iPhone was made free of charge with the iOS 4.2.1 software update on November 22, 2010, but only for devices introduced in 2010. An iOS app was also released by Apple on June, 18 2010 which allows users to locate their device from other iOS ones running iOS 4 or later software. Similar phone finder services under various names are available for other families of smartphones.
3)Photo Stream
Photo Stream is a service supplied with the basic iCloud service which allows users to store the most recent 1,000 photos on the iCloud servers up to 30 days free of charge. When a photo is taken on a device with Photo Stream enabled, it is automatically uploaded to the iCloud servers; from there, it is automatically pushed to the rest of the user's registered devices. The service is also integrated with Apple TV, allowing users to view their recent photos wirelessly on their HDTV
3) Storage pricing:
Each account has 5 GB of free storage for owners of either an iOS device using iOS 5.x or later, or a Mac using OS X Lion 10.7.x or later. However, certain content purchased from Apple's iTunes Store (currently this includes music, apps, audiobooks, music videos, TV shows, and movies) does not count towards the included free 5 GB limit, as it is separately linked from Apple's iTunes database of content to the users' connected Apple ID. This means that any content previously purchased via iTunes Store can automatically, or manually if preferred, be downloaded to any registered device (i.e. iOS devices, and computers). Also, when a user registers any new device, all previously bought iTunes content can be downloaded from the iTunes servers, or non-iTunes content from the iCloud servers.
